Dong Da festival takes place yearly on the January 5^th  of Lunar New Year and this is one of the earliest festivals in a Lunar Calendar year. This is a victory festival to memorize the glorious winning of Quang Trung King – a hero in history who fought against Chinese invaders of the nation.

After the victory, King Quang Trung to collect determined enemy put in 12 large pits, buried landfill and causeway into mounds called “GLASS shop” (burial mound “GLASS” – 2 fish species, sea, an allusion invaders called Tau). Therefore, every year, the leaders representing the Party and State have attended and chaired all the rituals of the festival. The national flag and the flag of the festival fly flutteredly as welcome visitors all directions. Nowadays, taking part in Dong Da festival is an indispensable need to Hanoian on occasion of Tet Holiday.
