Nha Trang is located on the southern coast of Vietnam, boasting six kilometres of white sandy beaches and clear blue waters as well as numerous islets surrounding the coastal town. So, Nha Trang is pretty comfortable and harmonious with pleasant level of heat, rainfall and sunshine. This makes the town a destination where tourism activities can be conducted all year round, and tourism potential is fully exploited.
Although Nha Trang principal weather condition is hot almost all year round, the average temperature fluctuates from 25 – 26oC, rarely goes beyond 32oC and down below 22oC. Summer is the time when temperature peaks at the range from 26 to 32oC, while winter does not last for long with temperature ranges from 22 to 27oC . It can be said that, there is no winter in Nha Trang.
However, climate in Nha Trang is divided by rainfall, which split a year in this town into rainy season and dry season. Most of the rainfall quantity (about 80%) is expected at the last 4 months of the year (September to December). The rest time of the year is dry season, when humidity is low and little to no rainfall.
In January, the rainfall comprises one sixth the rainfall in December. In this month, rains and storms less happen with the temperature of 22-27°C. In February, weather in Nha Trang is so ideal to travel with dry air, less rain and temperature of 20-25°C. By March, the temperature gradually rises. The temperature is about 26-31 in April. Yet, the rainfall level still low and moderate with about 20 mm. From May to August, temperature and humidity rise significantly in Nha Trang, but low precipitation.
From September to December, the rainy season begins in Nha Trang. In September, rainfall level increase sharply with an average of 135mm; the temperature hardly changes (27-30°C). October witnesses a doubled level of rainfall compared to that in September, higher humidity (around 90%). In November, heavy showers occur more often, triggering a huge amount of precipitation. In this month the mild and sober beauty of the place suddenly turns wild with the long wet spells and rain. In December, winter in Nha Trang is characterized by a bit cooler air, lower temperature of about 24°C.
In comparison with other areas in the center of Vietnam, Nha Trang City is not significantly influenced by sea-storm, which is another advantage in developing oceanic tourism industry.
